Part time vacancy (18 hours per week) at church for Community and Volunteer Support Worker (funded until December 2021) Closing Date for applications 30th September.
The post of Community & Volunteer Support Worker is open to applicants from all faith and none, and all who respect the faith of others.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the role has had to develop from the original vision.
To further develop the Café Oasis team, we introduced a Community and Volunteer Support Worker (CVSW), to connect and build relationships with other community groups enabling the provision of assistance, support and encouragement for the continuing and increasing needs of the café service users, its volunteers, and their carers.
We had developed links with smaller charities such as the Blind Veterans, providing meeting facilities with lunch. Part of the role of the CVSW was to further develop similar relationships, forming new links with other groups in our local community through local networking.
The CVSW was able to draw on the strengths of the existing Café Oasis team, enabling them to work together developing the role, which was also to assist in attracting new volunteers; while developing the necessary pastoral and developmental support for existing volunteers.
The role also includes developing links with the Parish Nurse, based at the church centre, to develop health education for all involved at the café.
In the current situation the role will focus on supporting and promoting the home delivery service, maintaining links with the Parish Nurse, café volunteers, food bank and the local Neighbourhood Networking Scheme.
The CVSW will need to be energetic, curious, and committed to supporting people to reach their full potential and adaptable to respond to the developing situation and the reopening of the café and meeting facilities.
